Downsizing. Decluttering. Companionship. Shopping. Appointments. Transitioning to higher levels of care. Preparing for end of life.
Families are complicated. Life is complicated. We understand. We have obligations and histories as personal as any family.
Accepting help can be difficult, especially from a "stranger." It can feel like a loss of dignity to a Loved One to receive services from a worker.
Whether for large or small projects, short-term or long-term assistance, from birth to end of life, we provide family support that you can trust. We are there for you and your Loved One with care that is personal and professional.

We come from all walks of life, but we share an interest in helping others. We are bondable and reliable. Every Friend in our circle must pass a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnernable Sector Check.
All Friends hold a valid First Aid certificate.

We know that everyone needs help sometimes, and we consider it
an honor to be able to support your Loved One with the dignity
they deserve. We value the trust you place in us and the opportunity
to support you in the role of a family friend.

We don't pretend to be your family's friend. We get to know you and your concerns. We offer support the way a friend of the family would. We also get to know your Loved One. We respect them and their wishes, and we obtain consent from them to provide care.

Because our approach is personal, we begin by getting to know you. Based on a short survey, we match you with a Friend. You meet over a common interest (e.g. at a dog park or community garden) and spend an hour or so getting to know each other.
If you are comfortable being friends and want to engage our services, you will introduce your Friend to your Loved One. This will also take place in a social setting - preferrably over food! We give your Loved One a chance to get comfortable with your Friend before asking their consent to provide care.
Next we connect with all the members of your family and friends who share concerns for your Loved One. We offer information and discuss what services we can provide.
We develop an individualized Care Plan for your Loved One. Then as an offical "Friend of the Family," we provide services according to this plan, reviewing and adapting it as needed. The support may be short-term, long-term, regular or casual.
We don't forget about you, our Friend, either. We connect regularly with you to provide updates, resources, advocacy, or just a listening ear.
We know that circumstances change, and so do the needs of your Loved One. Like any good friend, you can always call on us for help again, no matter how long it has been. We can facilitate a family meeting, provide updated information, resume care, or just be there to support you.
Once the goals of a Care Plan have been reached, we also stay in touch with your Loved One. We do this in little ways, like sending birthday or Christmas cards. That way, if you need us to step back into their lives to provide care, the connection will have been maintained. Whenever possible, we always try to provide care from the same trusted Friend.
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
No! We are pleased to provide care services for all ages with a variety of needs including post-partum recovery, disability support, respite care, moving assistance, and more.
We understand how quickly circumstances change. You can discontinue services at any time, and only pay for the services we have provided.
Just like in life, we can have more than one friend! If the person we recommend is not a good fit for your Loved One for any reason, you can make a new Friend.
Not if you want to engage our services. There are many agencies that provide professional care, and we would be happy to recommend one. What makes us unique is our approach, which is dependent on forming relationship prior to providing services.
These services can be for anyone in need of them. Many people experience feelings of isolation in this ultra-connected world. If you feel like you need the kind of support a Friend of the Family could provide, please drop us a line.
